Crescent Trade and Job Fair
The £50 million project to regenerate Buxton’s iconic Georgian Crescent is set to offer local businesses the opportunity to take advantage of one of the nearly 100 subcontracting opportunities available.
Local businesses, especially those in construction trades, are being invited to an informal Trade and Job Fair where they will have the opportunity to talk to VINCI Construction UK and partners about the range of opportunities on offer and timescales for application. In addition to this, there will be opportunities for work experience, apprenticeships and job opportunities arising from the project and any job seekers and self-employed trades and construction workers are invited to attend with a CV so that they can register their interest and also talk informally about the opportunities that will be arising during the build and recruitment processes.
Anyone interested in finding out more about these exciting opportunities is invited to come along to the Fair which is taking place on between 2pm and 6pm on Thursday 30 June at the Dome in Buxton.The Fair has been organised High Peak Borough Council and its partners, including VINCI Construction UK, Jobcentre Plus and Buxton & Leek College, to raise awareness of the opportunities and offer local businesses and people the chance to find out more about matters including:
- Jobs – six 12-month general labour vacancies are available immediately with a further six vacancies likely to be available by September;
- Apprenticeships – talk to VINCI directly about their programme for young people interested in careers in construction and civil engineering;
- Work experience –supervised placements for school leavers and older residents interested in work experience as first step into the construction industry; and
- Business to business – nearly 100 subcontracting contracts will be available.
